Of Note for Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015: The Viola of Love

The viola d’amore, or viola of love, is an entirely different instrument from the standard viola. With sympathetic strings to compliment the bowed ones, the viola d’amore has a sound all its own. Baroque violinist Rachel Barton Pine takes on Vivaldi’s complete works for this instrument on her latest recording, showcasing the depth and emotion created by its rich sound. Tune in to Tuesday’s program for highlights from this recording and much more.
