Growing Ozark Black Bears

Missouri Department of Conservation

Black bears in Arkansas and Missouri were almost hunted to extinction early last century. Game officials later transported hundreds of fresh bears from the northern U.S. to Arkansas to replenish the population. Far fewer bears, however, continue to inhabit Missouri. But as Jacqueline Froelich reports, Arkansas bears could help Missouri bears to flourish.

Jacqueline Froelich is an investigative reporter and news producer for Ozarks at Large.
