Scratching the Surface: Lunar Lava Tubes

Here on Earth, lava has been all over the news lately. As volcanoes erupt, the firey, molten rock sinks into flat earth to create networks of tunnels- something scientists have discovered underneath Hawaii's volcanoes

It turns out, we can see remnants of this pattern in outer space. The Pluto Manager, Caitlin Ahrens takes a closer look at the interconnected tubes running underneath the Moon's surface, which were once filled with lava. She also explains how the tunnels could hold the key for sustaining life beyond our planet.

Scratching the Surface airs Fridays at 2:04 pm. For more on the University of Arkansas Center for Space and Planetary Science, visit spacecenter.uark.edu/
