Of Note for Tues., Oct. 25, 2016: Liszt's Dynamic Transcendentalism

Liszt's Transcendental Etudes, a series of twelve compositions for solo piano, began life when the composer was only 15 years old. After three revisions, including edits to make the piece playable for smaller hands, the pieces were published as we know them in 1852. These etudes might be described best in the liner notes  of Daniil Trifonov'snew album, Transcendental,  as "dynamic depictions of the spiritual experiences of a Romantic soul." Trifonov is an award-winning Russian pianist and composer. Join us tonight  from 8 to 10 p.m. to hear highlights from this compelling new release.
