Of Note for Sun. Sept. 18, 2016: Brahmsian Dvorak

Antonin Dvorak was asked by Hans Richter to compose sixth symphony for the Vienna Philharmonic. Although largely overshadowed by Dvorak's iconic "New World" symphony, the piece was instrumental in catapulting the composer into international attention. Join us on Sunday, September 18th from 8 to 10 p.m. to hear this piece, conducted by Myung-Whun Chung and performed by the Vienna Philharmonic, plus Benjamin Britten's "Spring" symphony and Arnold Bax's "Overture, Elegy and Rondo."
