The Boston Symphony’s first installment of a new series entitled “Under Stalin’s Shadow” features Dmitri Shostakovich’s tenth symphony. Under the direction of newly-appointed music director Andris Nelsons, this series of recordings promises to deliver an intimate look at the fervor and looming majesty of Shostakovich’s music. “I could not live without the music of Shostakovich,” says Nelsons. “I can’t entirely explain why I have such an intimate relationship with his music, but I feel like I know him in a mystical way.” Tune in to this week’s Sunday Symphony as we explore Nelsons’ interpretation of this expressive composition.
