Artosphere Festival Orchestra's performance from the Great Hall of Crystal Bridges in June was a little different in this year. Rather than "Mozart in the Museum," as in the previous two years, Music Director Corrado Rovaris pared down to all strings for a concert featuring Verdi and Schoenberg.
"I chose these two pieces because I think that they are wonderful and challenging, and seeing as how we have a sort of 'dream team,' I wanted to give them that kind of challenge," explained Rovaris when choosing a string orchestration of Verdi's string quartet and Schoenberg's "Transfigured Night" for the this year's concert.
“The space is just magnificent. When we first arrived at the Great Hall, it was just pure joy playing in there. It’s such a resonant space and with that panoramic view it's just a nice atmosphere to be in," explains cellist Paul Miahky about what it's like to perform in the distinct glass hall.
