The Arkansas Brassworks: New Name, Same Passion for Music

The Arkansas Brassworks are a long-standing faculty brass quintet with a new name. Formerly known as the  Boston Mountain Brassworks, they'll be performing their annual concertat UoA's Fine Arts Center at 7:30pm on April 4th.

The group performs a number of pieces ranging from a unique take on Balkan folk music to a Dutch adaptation of the legendary Cervantes story of Don Quixote.

"It's all just really really fun music, really tuneful, really rhythmic," says Timothy Thompson, French horn player and Professor of Music. "I think the audience will really enjoy the program."

Thompson, also of the University's Lyrique Quintette, stopped by to discuss the upcoming concert and the experience of playing in a brass group versus a woodwind one. Listen to the full interview with Katy Henriksen via the streaming link above.
