- WILLIAMS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY: Officials at Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge announced that they have achieved university status. Dr. Tom Jones, president of the college, said the status will help with recruitment efforts. The official name change will be next summer.
- HEALTH SCORING: While Governor Asa Hutchinson (R-Ark) supports the Graham-Cassidy bill for its flexibility for states to handle Medicaid, a new study suggests the bill could do more harm than good for Arkansans. KUAR reports a study from the non-partisan think-tank Center for American Progress shows Arkansas could lose billions of dollars and more than 430,000 residents could lose coverage under this latest U.S. Senate plan to repeal Obamacare.
- ARKANSAS EXECUTION-DRUGS: The Associated Press reports government lawyers want Arkansas’ highest court to reverse a ruling requiring prison officials to release more information about their execution drugs. This comes after another judge ordering the state to release labels and package inserts for another execution drug. The state has an execution scheduled for November.
