2nd Judicial District Prosecutor Scott Ellington has won the Arkansas Municipal League's "Person of the Year" Award during a conference in Little Rock.  He was recognized for his work against the opiod epidimic in Arkansas.  KASU News Director Johnathan Reaves conducts this interview with Ellington.  Click on the Listen button for the entire interview. 

There are more opportunities for the use of alternate transportation on the campus of Arkansas State University. A ribbon cutting was held Wednesday at the site of the Pack Path’s multi use path at a bridge over Turtle Creek on the west side of campus. Chancellor Dr Kelly Damphousse said the project was made possible through a combination of federal, state and local funds.

"With the opening of  this trail, the total number of miles of Pack Paths we have on campus is about ten miles long," says Damphousse.  "These can be used for walking, riding, and running on our campus."

The Craighead County Judge-Elect has a lot to learn.  Marvin Day has slowly started learning what his new job will be when he takes over January first.  During a transition period, current County Judge Ed Hill has started allowing Day to sit in on meetings and is starting to teach him what he needs to know.  Day tells KASU News tells what he has been doing so far and also tells about a new job he will start July first.

Dunklin County Residents will go to the polls in August to decide on two ballot issues for the construction of a new hospital in Kennett. 

Dunklin County Commissioner Don Collins told the Kennett City Council that a special election will take place on Tuesday, August seventh.  Two one-half-cent sales tax initiatives will be on the ballot that day.
